COTTON FIBER BECOMES “FOOD SAFE”

WHY WE USE COTTON FIBER FOR OUR PLACEMATS

You probably remember the first placemat we created, a sheet of washable paper—our paper—rectangular and in various colors.  It became a Uashmama product widely sold and appreciated, not only because it could be washed, but also because it represented a fundamental element of table decoration from breakfast to dinner.

At lunches or dinners with the family or friends, don’t you want to have spotless placemats on your table?  Imagining what oil, tomato, and wine can do to your table, we thought of perfecting our placemats by making them even more resistant, a taboo against stains, but also more reflective of our philosophy of sustainability.

THE COTO PLACEMAT

What’s more sturdy than a placemat of washable paper?  A placemat in washable paper created with a new material of 100% cotton fiber!  Uashmama’s COTO placemat comes from the discarded part of the cotton leaf.  It’s so versatile that it has two sides: a neutral tone on one side that contrasts various colors on the other.

PLEASE NOTE

  1. The COTO placemat can be oval, round, rectangular, square, and the material can be made as coasters.
  2. It’s extremely resistant against all types of stains—at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  3. A damp cloth can clean and disinfect the COTO.
  4. It is heat resistant, stays on the table, and doesn’t discolor.

HOW DO I USE THE COTO PLACEMAT TO DECORATE MY TABLE?

Breakfast: the most important meal of the day but usually, except on Sunday, we eat it in a mad rush.  As my mother did, you can prepare the table the night before, using for example COTO rectangular placemats and, why not, in a strong and hot color: a lovely orange to best begin the day.

The table is set, breakfast is served—GOOD MORNING!

Lunch:  your day pauses for about an hour when you need to restore your energy to face the rest of the day.  You can’t go wrong with a set of oval COTO placemats in fresh and soft colors, like sage.

The table is set, lunch is served—GOOD AFTERNOON!

Don’t forget COTO coasters!

Dinner:  in Italy it’s sacred.  It encompasses the whole day and is a time to relax.  Use a tablecloth in hot shades like forest green or cherry red or blue, and put COTO round placemats under your plates.

A nice glass of wine, and dinner is served!  GOOD EVENING!
