"UASHMAMA for BMW"

OTTO: WHEN A CAR SEAT BECOMES AN OFFICE CHAIR MADE OF WASHABLE PAPER

When BMW asked UASHMAMA to take part at the ‘BMW i Marketplace’ Marco Marconi, founder and CEO of the Italian brand, knew immediately that he had to create something really special and innovative out of his washable paper AGGO®.

The idea was to adapt a BMW item into a new object made of washable paper. Marco has always been a fan of cars and so he decided to find a seat of a BMW 524 TD from 1983 ( one of his first car) and to convert it into an office chair coated with washable paper. The project started at the end of Summer 2016 and UASHMAMA team worked just with Tuscan artisans at the 4 phases: dismantlement, reconstitution of the model with the washable paper by the upholsterer, cutting and sewing of the patterns made of the new material and assembly by the blacksmith.

The name of the chair is OTTO and OTTO is the first UASHMAMA seat made of washable paper with a special finishing, the so called TEC. TEC stands for a fine finishing that makes the UASHMAMA paper more resistant than ever, an evolution of our original paper.

OTTO has been displayed at the BMW i Marketplace – Get the DNA in November 2016 and has been at the BMW museum until April 2017.
